Safety in Community: Envisioning and Demanding Real Solutions to Violence
Building a safer future means learning from what is working and demanding better solutions.
For too long, people who have experienced violence have wanted solutions that create safety, but don’t know the full scope of what is possible. Intended for organizers and practitioners, this powerful tool is designed to help close this gap and make space for the conversations and collective imagination required to build a world where true safety and healing is a reality for everyone.
This free resource builds on our first curriculum, Reclaiming Narrative Power: Using Inquiry to Tell New Stories About Violence, an inquiry-based workshop aimed to support people in moving toward transformative answers to core questions about safety. Safety in Community builds on the learning from those conversations and invites people to consider the impacts and causes of violence, the obligations of those who commit it, the limitations of current approaches, and the real solutions rooted in examples from across the country that are already working to create lasting safety for our communities.
