Peju Oyeyemi joined Common Justice in 2021 as the Assistant Director of Trauma Support where she led her team in expanding its service provision to harmed parties focusing on safety and stabilization, service identification and coordination, and deeper healing work to include psychoeducation and coping, accompaniment and the restorative justice process for seeking accountability.
Prior to joining Common Justice, Peju held both managerial and frontline roles at Safe Horizon. She provided counseling, case management and crisis intervention to survivors of interpersonal and family violence, sexual assault, homicide, and other forms of violence, and guided frontline staff in these areas as well.
Peju also works in private practice as a psychotherapist providing mental health and emotional support to individuals and families with a range of stability and recovery needs. She has worked with diverse populations domestically and abroad, including children and families within the child welfare system, immigrants and new Americans in urban areas, and refugees in camp settings.
Peju holds a B.A. from SUNY College at Plattsburgh and an M.S.W from the Boston College School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York.
