Dr. Candacé King is the Manager of Storytelling and Content Strategy at Common Justice. She is an Emmy Award winning journalist and scholar of African American Studies with over a decade of communications training and experience. Dr. King has assumed sole responsibility of producing original news content on deadline for both broadcast and digital-first platforms including NBC News, NBCBLK, ESSENCE Magazine and The Nation. Dr. King specializes in media representations of Black women, with a specific emphasis on Black women’s varied responses to state surveillance. Dr. King’s research has been featured in conferences around the world including The Netherlands, Nigeria, and South Africa. In addition to her passion for storytelling and narrative change, she also enjoys all things beauty, wellness, and travel.
